Love (Not just the gushy kind!)

Tonight, like every night, I went into my boys bedroom to do our bedtime routine. Without it, it's like the world falls apart and I suddenly find myself in the middle of a bad horror flick. It's a necessity! And just as every night before, I hear a little voice saying, "Mommy, please don't go! PLEASE cuddle me!" And as tempted as I am to tell them no, I have a bajillion things to get done on my 'mommy list', I put it aside and remind myself that one day, they won't want a dang thing to do with me, so I crawl my butt into their extremely uncomfortable beds, and cuddle! As I am cuddling I hear that beautiful little voice again, "Mommy, sing sunshine?" (our night time song.) Okay. *insert ridiculously bad singing here!* "Mommy, sing puppy in the window?" So I start singing puppy in the window. A song I made up, on the spot, because he wouldn't take no for an answer! Yes it's ridiculous, but they both love it! After a few minutes seconds of silence I begin to tell them how much I love them. How much I adore them and how happy I am that God chose me to be their mommy. How much I love their quirks, their hair colour, their smiles, and their little personalities.

I find it funny that it took me this long, until I had children of my own that I ever realized that I could love this much. That my heart was literally hanging out there in their little hands, with every bump bruise and scrap, my heart hurt too. And that "Wow, if I love these boys this much, how much more does God love them?! How much more does he love me, but not just me, He loves each and every single one of us, his children!"
Alright, alright, so maybe I just had this epiphany. Maybe you all had it long ago. Maybe I'm just slow, hehe. The love I have my children is extravagant, it is massive, it is exceedingly amazing, far different than any love I have ever felt prior to having children. And to think, God loves us more than that. The kind of love I have for my children is just a small glimpse into the way He loves us, and I thank God for sharing that with me, through my beautiful little boys. Now that, that is amazing. :)
